Drug Abuse Crisis Gripping Nigerian Youth is Alarming, Small Doctor Raises Alarm

Street-Pop Star Calls for Urgent Intervention

Nigerian street-pop sensation Small Doctor has sounded the alarm over the escalating drug abuse crisis among the nation’s youth, describing the situation as deeply troubling and calling for immediate action.

The musician, born Adekunle Temitope, shared his disturbing observations during a recent visit to various neighborhoods in Lagos, where he witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of substance abuse on young people.

Heartbreaking Scenes in Lagos Neighborhoods

“I strolled through hoods on Sunday and what I saw was heartbreaking. The rate young chaps use drugs nowadays is alarming,” Small Doctor wrote in a social media post that has since gone viral.

The artist recounted particularly distressing encounters with childhood friends who had fallen victim to drug addiction: “Most heartbreaking was when I arrived my hood — I saw some promising guys we grew up together sleeping while standing, some were even making some crazy postures while sleeping. So sad.”

Fuji Legend’s Prophetic Warning

Small Doctor revealed that Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal had predicted this crisis six years earlier, advising him to consider investing in rehabilitation centers as “the new oil” — a statement that now seems eerily prescient.

The musician also expressed admiration for social media activist “David,” known for his anti-drug abuse campaigns, calling for his return to the spotlight: “There is one bros that sings against drug abuse on socials — been a minute I came across his content. I think we need him more this moment.”

Small Doctor’s emotional appeal highlights the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to address Nigeria’s growing youth drug abuse epidemic, combining prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation efforts.
