Ambassador Tuggar Heads to Brussels for Pivotal AU-EU Talks on Governance, Trade, Security
Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will lead the nation’s delegation to the 3rd African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Ministerial Meeting in Brussels, Belgium, from May 19–21, 2025.
Strengthening AU-EU Partnership
The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the significance of the AU-EU collaboration, which has evolved over two decades since its formalization at the inaugural AU-EU Summit in Cairo, Egypt, in 2000. Five subsequent summits have reinforced bilateral ties, fostering cooperation on global challenges.
Preparatory Meetings Ahead
Prior to the Ministerial Meeting, key preparatory sessions will take place:
- May 19, 2025: African Group of Ambassadors’ meeting
- May 20, 2025: Senior Officials’ session
Nigeria’s Strategic Focus
Ambassador Tuggar is expected to address Peace, Security, and Governance during the Ministerial plenary, reflecting Nigeria’s dedication to stability and sustainable development in Africa and its partnership with Europe.
