Ambassador Tuggar Heads to Brussels for Pivotal AU-EU Talks on Governance, Trade, and Security

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will lead the nation’s delegation to the 3rd African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Ministerial Meeting in Brussels, Belgium, from May 19–21, 2025.

Strengthening AU-EU Partnership

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the significance of the AU-EU partnership, which has evolved over two decades since its formalization at the inaugural AU-EU Summit in Cairo, Egypt, in 2000. Five subsequent summits have reinforced bilateral cooperation, fostering joint efforts on global challenges.

Preparatory Meetings Ahead of Ministerial Session

Before the main event, two key preparatory meetings will take place:

  • The African Group of Ambassadors’ meeting on May 19, 2025.
  • The Senior Officials’ session on May 20, 2025.
