Violent Attack Leaves Four Dead in Kaura-Namoda
In a brazen midnight attack, armed bandits abducted at least 20 residents of Kaura-Namoda, the headquarters of Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area in Zamfara State. The assailants also killed four women who resisted abduction during the violent raid.
Details of the Attack
According to reports gathered by Sunday PUNCH, the bandits stormed the town around 2 a.m. on Saturday, firing indiscriminately as they moved from house to house. The attack occurred just days after local lawmaker Aminu Sani warned that bandits had taken control of his constituency.
An eyewitness, Abdullahi Mohammed, described the terrifying incident: “The heavily armed bandits arrived on motorcycles while most residents were asleep. Their sporadic gunfire forced many to flee into nearby bushes for safety.”
The attackers reportedly abducted 24 people, primarily women and children who couldn’t escape quickly enough. Four women were executed when they refused to be taken into the forest.
Community Outcry Over Security Lapses
Mohammed expressed frustration at the lack of security response: “The bandits operated freely for over three hours without intervention. This follows recent peaceful protests by villagers demanding better protection from authorities.”
Another anonymous resident confirmed the severity of the attack: “The bandits came in large numbers, kidnapping many and killing some. I fled the town this morning fearing their return.”
No Official Response from Police
Attempts to verify the incident with Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer Yazid Abubakar were unsuccessful, as he didn’t respond to calls or messages.
