ISWAP Terrorists Kill 50 Farmers in Borno Village Attack

Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have executed at least 50 farmers in Malam Karanti village, Kukawa local government area of Borno State. The brutal attack occurred on Thursday in an ISWAP-controlled area approximately 9 kilometers from Baga town.

Background of the Attack

According to local sources, the farmers and fishermen had previously enjoyed protection from an ISWAP commander in exchange for regular payments. “They had authorization papers from Amir Akilu, the ISWAP commander overseeing Malam Karanti and Dawashi,” a source revealed.

Details of the Massacre

The terrorists reportedly took advantage of the commander’s absence to carry out the attack, accusing the farmers of espionage and collaborating with rival Boko Haram factions. Survivors described a horrifying scene where the assailants surrounded their victims and threatened to shoot anyone attempting to escape.

“We were harvesting beans when they attacked,” one survivor recounted. “They gathered us and slaughtered many. Over 50 people were killed, mostly by knife. Some were abducted, and today they repeated similar killings in Dawashi.”

No Official Response

As of reporting time, neither security agencies nor government officials have commented on the incident. This attack follows another deadly assault five months prior, where ISWAP killed at least 40 farmers in Dumba community near Baga.
