Tinubu Administration Attracts Over $450M into Nigeria’s CNG Value Chain

Minister Highlights Economic Reforms at Public Relations Event

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has revealed that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration has successfully attracted over $450 million in investments for Nigeria’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) value chain development.

Idris made this announcement during his keynote address at the Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW 2025) held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The event, themed “Harnessing Public Relations for Nigeria’s Economic Renaissance,” was organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

CNG Infrastructure Expansion

The minister attributed this achievement to the Presidential CNG Initiative, which has significantly boosted Nigeria’s green energy transition:

“From just seven CNG conversion centers in Nigeria in 2023, we now have over 150 across the country and counting,” Idris stated. “This has helped unlock additional private sector financing, and the results are emerging speedily.”

Comprehensive Economic Reforms

Idris outlined several key economic initiatives by the Tinubu administration:

  • Creation of the Ministry of Regional Development and regional development commissions
  • Establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development to tap into multi-billion-dollar agricultural opportunities
  • Launch of the National Students Loan Fund benefiting over 300,000 Nigerian youths
  • Introduction of CreditCorp for personal and business financing
  • Allocation of N200 billion for economic assistance to businesses

Infrastructure Development Boom

The minister highlighted significant infrastructure investments under the current administration:

“Nigeria is a vast construction site, with over N2.5 trillion worth of road infrastructure projects approved this year alone – the highest ever in Nigeria’s history,” Idris declared.

Major projects include:

  • Lagos-Calabar and Badagry-Sokoto Super Highways
  • Revival of Port Harcourt and Warri Refineries
  • N80 billion allocation for Alau Dam reconstruction in Borno
  • Progress on Kano-Kaduna Standard Gauge Railway Line

Idris concluded by describing President Tinubu as “The Road Master” for his unprecedented focus on infrastructure development across all regions of Nigeria.
