Tinubu Administration Attracts Over $450M for CNG Development, Says Information Minister
Nigeria’s Push for Green Energy Gains Momentum
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has revealed that the Bola Tinubu-led administration has successfully attracted over $450 million in investments for Nigeria’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) value chain development.
Idris made this announcement during his keynote address at the Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW 2025) held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The event, themed “Harnessing Public Relations for Nigeria’s Economic Renaissance,” was organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Presidential CNG Initiative Driving Growth
The minister attributed this significant investment to the Presidential CNG Initiative, which has catalyzed Nigeria’s transition to green energy in transportation and machinery sectors.
“From just seven CNG conversion centers in Nigeria in 2023, we now have over 150 across the country and counting,” Idris stated, highlighting the rapid progress made under the initiative.
Comprehensive Economic Reforms
Idris outlined several key achievements of the Tinubu administration:
- Creation of the Ministry of Regional Development and regional development commissions
- Establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development to unlock agricultural potential
- Launch of the National Students Loan Fund benefiting over 300,000 Nigerian youths
- Introduction of CreditCorp for personal and business financing
- Allocation of N200 billion for economic assistance to businesses of all sizes
Infrastructure Revolution Underway
The minister emphasized the administration’s focus on infrastructure development:
“Nigeria is currently a vast construction site, with over N2.5 trillion worth of road infrastructure projects approved this year alone – the highest ever in Nigeria’s history,” Idris declared.
Major projects include:
- Lagos-Calabar and Badagry-Sokoto Super Highways
- Revival of Port Harcourt and Warri Refineries
- N80 billion allocation for Alau Dam reconstruction in Borno
- Progress on Kano-Kaduna Standard Gauge Railway Line
Idris concluded by noting that President Tinubu’s infrastructure focus has earned him the nickname “The Road Master,” with development projects evenly distributed across all regions of Nigeria.
