73,844 Candidates Absent from 2025 Mock UTME – JAMB Reports
Low Turnout Despite Registration
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that 73,844 candidates who registered for the 2025 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) failed to show up for the test.
Examination Statistics
In an official statement released on Sunday, JAMB’s spokesperson Fabian Benjamin disclosed:
- 200,115 candidates initially registered interest
- 2 candidates later withdrew
- 200,113 candidates completed registration
- 73,844 were absent on exam day
- 88 failed biometric verification
- 126,181 successfully took the exam
Results Availability
Benjamin confirmed that results for 115,735 candidates are now available, while 10,446 results remain under processing and will be released shortly.
Purpose of Mock UTME
The mock examination serves as:
- A trial version of the main UTME
- An opportunity to test new examination innovations
- A platform for candidates to familiarize themselves with the Computer-Based Test (CBT) environment
Technical Challenges
JAMB acknowledged experiencing some technical delays during the mock exam, attributing them to new features being introduced for the 2025 main UTME. The Board expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to candidates.
Upcoming Meeting with Institutions
The Board announced that JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede will meet with heads of tertiary institutions established in 2025 on Monday, April 14, 2025 to discuss admission plans.
How to Check Results
Candidates can access their mock UTME results by sending “MOCKRESULT” via SMS to either 55019 or 66019 using the phone number registered for the examination.
