NAF Chief Vows to Defeat Boko Haram Soon
In response to recent deadly attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in Nigeria’s North-West region, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar, has pledged that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will soon eliminate the terrorist group.
Recent Attack Prompts Strong Response
The NAF chief’s declaration comes after a devastating weekend attack in Borno State that killed eight people and left more than 20 injured. During his visit to the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri on Sunday, Abubakar reaffirmed the military’s commitment to defeating the insurgents through sustained air operations and advanced warfare technologies.
Governor’s Warning Echoed
The visit followed warnings from Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, about deteriorating security conditions in the region after renewed attacks on local communities. In an official statement, Air Commodore Edward Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, quoted Abubakar saying the terrorists’ defeat was imminent.
Military Strategy and Public Support
The Air Chief emphasized the military’s approach:
- Precision airstrikes against terrorist targets
- Real-time intelligence gathering
- Deployment of cutting-edge technology
Abubakar also stressed the importance of public support, inter-agency collaboration, and civilian cooperation in achieving lasting peace. He praised the bravery of frontline troops and promised continued investment in technology to enhance their operational capabilities.
