Radical Group Behind the Plot

According to a statement from Rio de Janeiro’s civil police and the ministry of justice, the attack was orchestrated by a hate group accused of radicalizing teenagers. The group allegedly promoted violent ideologies, including self-harm and extremist content, to create a sense of belonging among members.

“The suspects were recruiting participants, including minors, to carry out coordinated attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails,” authorities revealed.

Disguised as Fans

Investigators discovered that the suspects had disguised themselves as members of Lady Gaga’s official fan club, the ‘Little Monsters,’ to conceal their true intentions. The plot was uncovered after Rio police shared intelligence with the ministry of justice’s cyber operations lab, which identified encrypted online groups using coded language and extremist symbols to incite violence among youth.

Arrests Made

Two individuals were arrested in connection with the plot:

  • An adult male from Rio Grande do Sul, identified as the group’s leader, charged with illegal weapon possession
  • A teenager in Rio facing child pornography charges

Lady Gaga’s Response

A spokesperson for the singer addressed the incident on Sunday, stating that Gaga and her team “became aware of this alleged threat through media reports this morning.”

“Prior to and during the show, there were no known safety concerns, nor any communication from the police or authorities to Lady Gaga regarding any potential risks,” the spokesperson added. “Her team worked closely with law enforcement throughout the planning and execution of the concert and all parties were confident in the safety measures in place.”
