Former US President Donald Trump has definitively stated he will not pursue a third term in office, putting an end to speculation about his political future beyond 2028.

During a comprehensive interview with NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’, the 76-year-old Republican leader addressed questions about his potential candidacy while marking his first 100 days in office during his second term.

Constitutional Constraints Acknowledged

“I’m not looking at that,” Trump declared when asked about a potential 2028 run. “To the best of my knowledge, you’re not allowed to do it. I don’t know if that’s constitutional that they’re not allowing you to do it or anything else.”

The 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution explicitly prohibits third presidential terms, stating: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”

Focus on Current Term and Republican Succession

Trump emphasized his current priorities, saying: “I’m looking to have four great years and turning it over to somebody, ideally a great Republican, a great Republican to carry it forward.”
