Seven Doors Leads with Multiple Wins at Prestigious African Film Ceremony
The 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) concluded in grand style at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, with the film “Seven Doors” emerging as one of the night’s biggest winners.
The production claimed three major awards: Best Lead Actor (Femi Adebayo), Best Lead Actress (Chioma Chukwuka), and Best Score/Music (Tolu Obanro).
An emotional Adebayo expressed his gratitude during his acceptance speech: “I never saw this coming. I’ve been putting effort and paying attention to details, and this award tells me that I am appreciated.” The actor promised a special celebration with his cast and crew, noting the significance of their triple victory.
Lifetime Honors and Trailblazing Achievements
The ceremony recognized industry veterans Nkem Owoh and Sani Mu’azu with Lifetime Achievement Awards, while Kayode Kasum received the Trailblazer Award for his contributions to African cinema.
Mercy Aigbe took home Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Farmer’s Bride,” marking her second AMVCA win since 2014. “This award will shape my next projects for excellence,” the excited actress declared.
Regional Talent Shines Bright
“Lisabi: The Uprising” won Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa), with actors Adedimeji Lateef and Adebimpe Oyebade Adedimeji accepting the honor. Lateef noted during his speech: “We keep raising the scale and bar every year, you can see how much the world is celebrating with us.”
Other notable winners included Gabriel Afolayan (Best Supporting Actor), Iyo Prosper Adokiye (Best Digital Content Creator), and Awam Amkpa (Best Director for “The Man Died”).
