President Tinubu Commends JAMB’s Examination Integrity

The Federal Government has responded to concerns regarding the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) schedule, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasizing the importance of maintaining Nigeria’s education system integrity.

During his visit to JAMB Headquarters, President Tinubu assessed the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) process for UTME and praised its alignment with international best practices.

“I can confidently attest that JAMB’s approach to assessments aligns with international best practices. The exams are conducted with a high degree of integrity, well-coordinated monitoring, and transparency,” President Tinubu stated.

Major Examination Reforms Coming in 2025

As part of sweeping education reforms, President Tinubu directed both WAEC and NECO to fully adopt CBT by November 2025, with complete implementation expected by 2026.

“By 2026, all WAEC and NECO May/June objective and essay-based exams will be conducted using the CBT model,” the President announced.

Combating Examination Malpractice Nationwide

The move to CBT across all major examination bodies aims to significantly reduce examination malpractice, which has plagued Nigeria’s education system for years.

“We must restore the culture of studying and merit-based achievement. Cheating undermines the efforts of hardworking students and sets a dangerous precedent,” President Tinubu emphasized.

New Committee to Evaluate Examination Standards

A high-powered committee chaired by JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede has been established to evaluate all examination processes nationwide and provide recommendations by May 2025.

“The committee will provide recommendations by the end of May to ensure our examinations meet global standards,” the President stated.

Commitment to Education Transformation

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to human capital development, with education as a cornerstone of his agenda.

“I, along with the entire Ministry, am fully committed to reshaping the future of education in Nigeria,” the President concluded.
