Minister Announces Approval at Bauchi Academy Launch
The announcement came from Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), during the commissioning of the permanent site for the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy (BOGAA) in Alkaleri Local Government Area. The minister emphasized that activating national assets for oil sector development remains a top priority for the Tinubu administration.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval ensures all outstanding critical regulatory licenses for the Kolmani Integrated Development Project were issued,” Lokpobiri stated.
Strategic Vision for Nigeria’s Energy Future
The minister highlighted the President’s vision to leverage Nigeria’s fossil fuel reserves for economic growth, praising Bauchi State’s establishment of BOGAA as a strategic move to develop necessary human capital for the sector.
Lokpobiri confirmed the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) would continue supporting technological advancements, expressing hope for a sustainable partnership between the academy and PTDF to secure the industry’s future.
Historic Project Gains Momentum
First launched in November 2022, the Kolmani project marked Northern Nigeria’s entry into crude oil exploration. The development centers around the Kolmani River II oil field, with significant economic potential for the region.
Recent confirmation by NNPC Ltd’s Group CEO Bayo Ojulari about resuming drilling operations indicates renewed momentum for northern oil exploration activities.
State Government Commits to Sector Development
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed praised federal support and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the academy’s success, positioning it as a national center for oil and gas skills development.
