Samklef Lambastes Davido for Speaking on VDM’s Arrest, Calls It “Karma”
Music Producer Criticizes Grammy-Nominated Artist Amid EFCC Controversy

Renowned music producer Samuel Oguachuba, popularly known as Samklef, has sparked online debate after criticizing Davido for speaking out about social media activist VeryDarkMan’s (VDM) arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The Controversial Arrest
Vincent Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, was arrested on Friday, May 2, at a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) branch in Abuja while assisting his mother with unauthorized debit issues from her account. The EFCC subsequently confirmed his detention, citing multiple petitions against the controversial activist.
Samklef’s Fiery Response
While many celebrities including Davido called for VDM’s release, Samklef took to Twitter with a scathing rebuke:
“People wet supposed go protest for am Dey warm ena chop lol I been think say davido wan go help am? Efcc no Dey work with emotions! This same VDM that once said he would help Davido ‘kpiá’ me—some Nigerian youths are just too gullible and biased.”
The “7th Heaven” producer continued his tirade, suggesting VDM was experiencing karma for past actions:
“He can’t even call out certain people. VDM is facing his own karma now. What you do to others will eventually be done to you. Same person wey attack Igbo business men.”
Mixed Reactions from Fans
The online community responded with divided opinions:
- @ODaymiond: “Some Mumu people go Come attack you boss.”
- @Blessedmartins_: “Anybody wey want progress of the youth suppose help. @davido surely must help. VDM IS A GOOD MAN.”
- @neatyphem: “Is it only Davido that came out for VDM to be released? Egbon, Egbon, Egbon… leave Davido matter off your mouth.”
Chinese Man Speaks Out
In related developments, a Chinese national who recently interacted with VDM expressed distress about the arrest in a viral video, adding another dimension to the ongoing controversy.
The EFCC has maintained that VDM’s detention follows standard procedures regarding multiple petitions filed against him, though supporters continue to demand his release.
