- Joy Madu (52)
- Victoria Onodu Akasike (56)
During interrogations, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in a range of illegal activities, including child theft, abduction, and operating unlicensed medical facilities that functioned as “baby factories.” These illicit operations spanned across Enugu and Anambra states, preying on vulnerable women and children.
Rescue of Victims
The operation led to the rescue of several victims, including:
- A seven-month-old infant
- A four-year-old child
- Two heavily pregnant women
The victims were reportedly held captive in a remote village, where the pregnant women—identified as indigenes of Ebonyi State—were allegedly lured and confined for forced births. Their newborns were intended for sale on the black market.
“The rescue was swift and executed without harm to the victims, who are now in safe custody and receiving necessary care,” Adejobi confirmed.
