Gunmen Kill 25, Injure Many in Fresh Plateau Attack

Violence Erupts in Kimakpa Village

In a tragic incident early Monday morning, suspected Fulani militia attacked Kimakpa Village in Miango District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, leaving at least 25 dead and several injured.

Details of the Attack

Eyewitnesses reported that hundreds of heavily armed gunmen stormed the community, indiscriminately killing men, women, and children. One survivor, who escaped into nearby bushes, described how the attackers arrived on motorcycles and began shooting sporadically.

Security Forces Respond

Nigerian Army troops, led by the Sector Commander, along with police and Mobile Force units stationed at Miango, swiftly responded to distress calls. They engaged the attackers in a gun duel, successfully repelling the assault.

A security official stated: “Following the confrontation, 25 corpses were recovered, while four injured victims received immediate medical attention.”

Ongoing Manhunt

Security forces have launched an extensive manhunt, combing nearby forests for the perpetrators. Additional troops have been deployed to prevent further attacks in the area.

Recent Violence in Plateau State

This attack follows another deadly incident days earlier, where gunmen killed over 70 people across several communities in Bokkos Local Government Area.
