NCC to Champion Sustainable Growth for MVNOs at Telecom Sector Sustainability Forum 6.0

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is set to take center stage at the upcoming 6th edition of the Telecom Sector Sustainability Forum (TSSF 6.0), where it will spearhead crucial discussions on fostering sustainable growth for Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.

Unlocking Nigeria’s MVNO Potential

Scheduled for August 26, 2025, at the CITIHeight Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, the forum carries the theme “Unlocking Nigeria’s MVNO Potential: Status, Trends, Investment, and Future Prospects.” Organized by Business Remarks, this high-profile event will commence at 10:00 a.m. (WAT) and underscores Nigeria’s commitment to building a competitive and inclusive telecom ecosystem.

The gathering will bring together diverse stakeholders from across the telecom industry to strategize on effectively integrating MVNOs into Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital economy. This comes at a pivotal moment, following the issuance of 43 MVNO licenses to new market players.

The Rising Importance of MVNOs

With global MVNO markets experiencing significant expansion, Nigeria stands at the threshold of leveraging this model to enhance service delivery, drive digital transformation, and penetrate underserved markets. Industry experts believe that with proper regulatory support and infrastructure access, MVNOs can create substantial value for both operators and consumers.

“MVNOs present a unique opportunity to utilize excess network capacity while offering consumers specialized, value-added services tailored to their specific needs,” noted telecom analysts.

NCC’s Regulatory Framework

The NCC has demonstrated proactive leadership in this space by implementing a comprehensive five-tier MVNO licensing classification system. Each tier offers distinct services and comes with a 10-year validity period, providing clear pathways for new market entrants.

At the forum, the telecom regulator will deliver a keynote address outlining its regulatory framework, policy interventions, and commitment to creating an enabling environment for MVNO operations in Nigeria.

A Platform for Collaboration

Mrs. Bukola Olanrewaju, Convener of the forum and Managing Editor of Business Remarks, emphasized the event’s collaborative nature: “TSSF 6.0 is designed to be a melting pot of ideas, bringing together Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), MVNOs, telecoms infrastructure providers, Internet Service Providers, industry associations, and technology experts.”

She added, “Our goal is to ignite discussions that will shape the future of MVNOs in Nigeria, ensuring their sustainable growth and their critical role in extending digital prosperity across the nation.”

Forum Structure and Objectives

The event will feature:

  • Interactive panel discussions
  • Expert paper presentations
  • Networking opportunities

These sessions aim to provide stakeholders with a platform to share insights, address operational challenges, and explore collaborative pathways for sustainable growth in Nigeria’s MVNO sector.

As Nigeria continues its digital transformation journey, events like TSSF 6.0 play a crucial role in shaping policies and strategies that will determine the telecom sector’s future trajectory.
