Army Chief Commends Kaduna Governor for Improved Security and Peace
Kaduna, Nigeria – The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has praised Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for fostering a more secure and peaceful environment in the state since taking office. The commendation came during a courtesy visit to the Governor at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Friday evening.
Inclusive Leadership Yields Security Gains
Lt. Gen. Oluyede attributed the improved security situation to Governor Sani’s inclusive governance approach. He highlighted significant progress in areas previously plagued by insecurity, such as the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari-Tegina axis and the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.
“Since you came on board, Kaduna State has been more peaceful. This is largely because you run an inclusive government. Before now, areas like the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari-Tegina axis were no-go zones. The Kaduna-Abuja expressway was also a major concern. But those are now behind us,” Lt. Gen. Oluyede stated.
Kaduna to Host 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration
The Army Chief expressed gratitude to Governor Sani for approving Kaduna as the host state for this year’s Nigerian Army Day celebration, which marks 162 years of the Nigerian Army’s service to the nation. He also acknowledged the Governor’s consistent support for the military, particularly the 1st Mechanized Division.
“We recognize the backing you’ve given the Army since you assumed office. In return, we will continue to support the efforts of your administration in keeping Kaduna safe,” Lt. Gen. Oluyede assured.
Governor Sani Praises Military’s Role in National Stability
In his response, Governor Uba Sani lauded the Nigerian Army for its critical role in safeguarding national unity and development. He emphasized the military’s sacrifices in combating criminal elements across the country.
“The Nigerian Army continues to make tremendous sacrifices to protect our nation from criminal elements. Nigerians are deeply grateful,” Governor Sani remarked.
Military Professionalism Strengthens Democracy
The Governor also commended the Nigerian Army for its professionalism and respect for democratic institutions. “I must acknowledge the professionalism with which the Army, and indeed the entire Armed Forces, has operated under civil democratic authority. This is vital for the survival of our democracy and the stability of our society,” he said.
Continued Collaboration for Enhanced Security
Governor Sani pledged ongoing logistical support to boost the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Army. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the military to ensure the safety of lives and property in Kaduna State.
As security remains a top priority in Nigeria’s Northwest region, the partnership between the Kaduna State Government and the Nigerian Army serves as a model for effective civil-military cooperation.
