JAMB to Release UTME Resit Results on Wednesday
Over 379,000 Candidates Affected by Technical Glitches
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced it will release the results of 379,000 candidates who participated in the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) this Wednesday. The exams were conducted between Friday and Monday following widespread technical issues during the initial test.

Background of the Rescheduled Exams
JAMB was forced to reschedule the UTME after mass failures were reported across multiple centers, particularly in Lagos and South-East states. The board later acknowledged that both technical and human errors significantly impacted candidates’ performance.
Out of the 1.9 million candidates who initially sat for the 2024 UTME, over 1.5 million scored below 200 marks out of a possible 400. This alarming trend prompted widespread concern among education stakeholders and led to JAMB’s investigation into the matter.
JAMB Accepts Responsibility
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, publicly accepted responsibility for the examination failures. During a press conference last week, the registrar became emotional, shedding tears while announcing the board’s decision to allow affected candidates to retake the test.
JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the Wednesday release date for the resit results. “The results of the candidates who took the rescheduled exam will be released on Wednesday,” Benjamin stated.
Breakdown of Affected Candidates
According to Prof. Oloyede, a total of 379,997 candidates experienced technical difficulties during the initial UTME:
- 206,610 candidates across 65 centers in Lagos
- 173,387 candidates across 92 centers in the South-East zone
