Power Line Damage Halts Water Treatment Operations

The Gombe State Water Board has announced a temporary disruption in water supply across the state capital and surrounding areas after a severe windstorm damaged critical infrastructure.

The incident occurred when strong winds toppled the dedicated power line supplying electricity to the Dadinkowa Water Treatment Plant, the primary source of potable water for the region.

Emergency Repairs Underway

In an official statement released Tuesday, the Water Board’s General Manager confirmed that technical teams have been deployed to the site for emergency repairs.

“Our engineers are working around the clock to restore power to the treatment facility,” the statement read. “We anticipate normal water production will resume immediately after power restoration.”

Public Appeal for Patience

The Water Board has appealed to residents for understanding during the outage period, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the service disruption.

“We sincerely appreciate the public’s cooperation as we work to resolve this unexpected situation,” officials stated, emphasizing their commitment to minimizing the duration of the water shortage.

The Board assured citizens that updates would be provided as repair work progresses, with normal water supply expected to resume shortly after power restoration at the treatment plant.
