Davido Declares Himself Unrivalled in Afrobeats on Ebro Show
Nigerian music superstar Davido, born David Adeleke, has confidently proclaimed his dominance in the Afrobeats genre, stating that no artist can match his prowess in this musical style.
Acknowledging Other Artists’ Strengths
During a recent appearance on The Ebro Show on Apple Music, the award-winning singer recognized the talents of American artists like Gunna, Young Thug, and Chris Brown in their respective genres. However, he maintained his position as the undisputed king of Afrobeats.

Davido’s Bold Claim
“I can’t sing trap better than Gunna or Young Thug, or sing R&B better than Chris Brown,” Davido admitted. “But nobody can sing Afrobeats like me.”
Staying True to His Roots
The Afrobeats sensation explained that his musical identity is deeply rooted in the genre, a sound he insists on bringing into all his collaborations, even when working with international artists.
“One of the good things American artists like about working with me is that we either meet in the middle or you just do it my way — Afrobeats,” he stated.
Future Collaborations with Chris Brown
Davido also revealed an extensive creative partnership with Chris Brown, disclosing they’ve recorded over 20 songs together. “We could put out two albums right now,” he teased, hinting at potential joint projects in the future.
