Bode George Slams Atiku, PDP Leaders Over ADC Coalition Move: “You Can’t Serve Two Masters”
Lagos, Nigeria – Chief Bode George, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has launched a scathing critique against party members supporting the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dual Allegiances Draw Fire
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program on Friday, the PDP stalwart singled out former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other party leaders for maintaining what he called “dual political allegiances.” George condemned their continued membership in PDP while openly backing the opposition ADC coalition as “dishonest and destabilizing.”
“You can’t serve two masters, as stated in the Holy Book,” George declared emphatically. “You either serve A or you serve B. But to say you are in A and B is a fallacy.”
PDP Crisis Laid Bare
The veteran politician accused Atiku and former Senate President David Mark of exacerbating PDP’s internal crisis since 2023, describing the ADC coalition as “lacking direction” and dismissing it with strong language.
“It is nothing but existential imbecility or sometimes what is called existential docility,” he stated bluntly.
George maintained that PDP remains the authentic platform for opposition politics in Nigeria, urging aggrieved members to focus on rebuilding rather than abandoning the party.
Rebuilding Over Abandonment
Using a vivid analogy, the PDP chieftain argued: “If you have a house that is leaking, do you run out? No, you are the landlord. You stay and fix it.”
He also placed partial blame for the party’s current challenges on Mark and former PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu, particularly criticizing their handling of the 2022 presidential primary process.
“Of course, you cannot do things like that and get away with it,” George remarked. “I warned against it at that point.”
Political Fallout Continues
The public condemnation comes amid growing tensions within Nigeria’s opposition ranks as political realignments begin taking shape ahead of the 2027 elections. George’s comments highlight deepening divisions within the PDP, which has struggled to maintain unity since its 2023 electoral defeat.
Political analysts suggest this latest outburst may signal more public infighting to come as various factions within the party jockey for position and influence in the run-up to the next national elections.
