A senior Customs officer’s wife, 2 others adopted in Jikwoyi community

The residents of the Angwa Fulani, Jikwoyi community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) continue to experience rising insecurity as the wife of a Nigerian Customs officer and two others were kidnapped in the early hours of Friday.

The kidnappers arrived and started shooting sporadically, injuring a local guard before taking away Mrs. Blessing Akpan and the brother inlaw.
The kidnappers also picked one, Mrs Osita, a bakery owner.

It was reported that residents mobilised and went after the kidnappers combining every possible hiding place before the arrival of security personnel.

The injured guard has been taken to hospital for treatment while search continues to rescue the adopted wives and a man.

As at the time of filling this report, there is no official statement from the police, neither contact with the kidnappers established.

Recall that since the month of April, Jikwoyi residents have reported increased robbery cases,  a situation that has forced landlords to recruit more security guards to curb the rising crime.

This medium is calling on the security agencies to expand their surveillance operations to Jikwoyi and its environments and act proactively.
