The Yobe State Government has initiated a strategic move to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its governance framework, aiming to enhance administrative efficiency and improve service delivery to citizens.
At the Artificial Intelligence Workshop held at Bricks Point Hotel in Damaturu, Dr. Mahmoud Bukar Maina, Director of the Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC), emphasized the workshop’s role in preparing government officials for technological transformation.
Bridging Technology and Governance
“AI has evolved from a futuristic concept to a practical tool that can revolutionize planning, monitoring, and service delivery in government operations,” Dr. Maina stated during his opening address.
The event gathered senior civil servants to explore practical applications of emerging technologies, with particular focus on AI solutions for governance challenges.
Governor’s Commitment to Innovation
Dr. Maina acknowledged Governor Mai Mala Buni’s consistent support for scientific advancement, noting: “His Excellency’s commitment has enabled five consecutive years of summer school programs, culminating in this landmark AI workshop.”

Digital Transformation in Public Service
Governor Buni, represented by Head of Civil Service Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa, described the initiative as crucial for modernizing Yobe’s public sector. “This workshop demonstrates our administration’s dedication to innovation and preparing our workforce for the digital era,” he stated.
