Lagos Island’s Varsity Football Academy Crowned JOF Kids Cup Champions

From the first whistle to the final moments of victory, Varsity Football Academy from Lagos Island demonstrated exceptional heart, skill, and determination throughout the tournament.
On Sunday at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Sports Centre, their hard work paid off as they lifted the 6th U-13 JOF Kids Cup trophy—a testament to their teamwork and perseverance.
A Dramatic Final Against B. Unit FC
Facing fierce rivals B. Unit FC from the Mainland in the championship match, Varsity Football Academy made an immediate impact. Within seconds of kickoff, they earned a penalty, which young star Damilola Afolayan converted with composure.
This early goal proved decisive as Varsity’s players showcased remarkable maturity, defending resolutely while creating opportunities in a hard-fought 1–0 victory.

Rewards and Recognition
The champions received a ₦750,000 cash prize along with medals and assorted gifts from tournament sponsors JOF Nigeria Limited. Runners-up B. Unit FC were awarded ₦500,000, while third-place Strong Dove FC earned ₦350,000 after defeating First Class Boys 3-1.

He announced plans to expand the tournament potentially to the Southwest region and create a “JOF All-Stars” team for holistic development beyond football skills.
