Government Commits to Oil Sector Revitalization
The announcement came from Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), during the commissioning of the permanent site for the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy (BOGAA) in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
“President Tinubu’s approval ensures all outstanding regulatory licenses for the Kolmani project will be issued,” Lokpobiri stated, emphasizing the administration’s focus on activating national assets to revitalize Nigeria’s oil industry.
Strategic Vision for Energy Development
The minister highlighted the President’s vision to leverage Nigeria’s fossil fuel reserves for economic growth, praising Bauchi State’s establishment of BOGAA as a strategic move to develop essential human capital for the sector.
“Through the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), we’ll continue advancing human capacity and technology. We hope this academy partners with PTDF to secure the industry’s future,” Lokpobiri added.
Historic Project Gains Momentum
First launched in November 2022, the Kolmani project marked Northern Nigeria’s entry into crude oil exploration. The Kolmani River II oil field at its core holds substantial economic promise for the region and nation.
Recent confirmation by NNPC Ltd’s Group CEO Bayo Ojulari about resuming drilling operations signals renewed activity in Northern oil exploration.
State Government Commits to Development
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed welcomed Federal Government support, pledging his administration’s dedication to the academy’s success: “This institution will become a center for skill development, benefiting Bauchi and Nigeria as a whole.”
