President Tinubu Urges Plateau Governor to Resolve Crisis and Restore Peace

Call for Political Will Amid Rising Violence

President Bola Tinubu has called on Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to demonstrate the necessary political will to address the ongoing crisis and restore lasting peace in the state. This appeal follows recent violent attacks that have claimed numerous lives.

Condemnation of Recent Attacks

In a statement issued by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the latest bloodshed in Plateau State, where over 40 lives were reportedly lost. He strongly condemned the violence and extended his condolences to the victims’ families, the state government, and residents.

Tinubu’s Direct Appeal to Governor Mutfwang

“I urge Governor Mutfwang to summon the necessary political will to resolve this crisis and establish enduring peace,” Tinubu stated. He emphasized the need for unity beyond religious and ethnic divisions, urging community and political leaders to collaborate in ending retaliatory violence.

Root Causes Must Be Addressed

President Tinubu highlighted that the conflict, fueled by ethnic and religious tensions, has persisted for over two decades. He stressed that lasting solutions must address underlying issues rather than just criminal elements.

“Enough is enough. We must tackle these problems fairly and find a permanent resolution,” Tinubu asserted.

Federal Government’s Commitment

The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s support for Plateau State in promoting dialogue, social cohesion, and accountability. He also directed security agencies to investigate the attacks thoroughly and bring perpetrators to justice.

Previous Warnings and Actions

This is not the first time President Tinubu has condemned Plateau violence. Weeks earlier, he vowed to hold attackers accountable, signaling a zero-tolerance stance on insecurity.
