Former APC Official Urges Opposition to Resist President’s Alleged Power Grab
ABUJA – Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has issued a stern warning to Nigerians about President Bola Tinubu’s alleged plans to manipulate the 2027 elections.
Ethnic Politics and Intimidation Tactics
In a strongly-worded statement released on Wednesday, Frank accused Tinubu of employing ethnic blackmail and political intimidation against Southern leaders, particularly opposition governors from the PDP, LP, and APGA. He claimed the President is using threats of state emergencies over fabricated charges to force compliance.
“Tinubu is playing the ethnic card to gain support while threatening to deal with those who oppose him,” Frank stated. “He’s putting at least five PDP Governors from the South under duress to defect to the APC along with their National Assembly members.”
North-South Divide Warning
The Bayelsa-born politician cautioned that Tinubu’s strategy frames the 2027 election as “him versus the North,” forgetting Northern support was crucial to his 2023 victory. Frank emphasized that the next election should focus on competence rather than regionalism.
“Nigerians need a President who will address our security crises, economic hardships from fuel subsidy removal, and skyrocketing food prices – not a tribal champion,” Frank asserted.
Alleged Anti-Democratic Maneuvers
Frank leveled serious accusations against the President:
- Engineering opposition party crises to weaken challengers
- Planning to “steal election results” as allegedly done in 2023
- Prioritizing personal ambition over national unity
“Tinubu wants to grab power and run with it again in 2027. Nigeria is on autopilot under his watch,” Frank lamented.

The former APC spokesman urged:
- Northern leaders to reconsider support for Tinubu
- Opposition parties to strengthen their coalition
- All Nigerians to reject “a bad, clueless leader” in 2027
