Six Killed by Suspected ISWAP Terrorists While Collecting Firewood in Borno
Deadly Ambush in Pulka Community
Six residents of Pulka in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, were reportedly killed by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists while gathering firewood on Saturday.
Details of the Attack
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the armed assailants ambushed the victims in the Bokko-Ghide/Ngoshe bush around 4:30 pm. The group of nine individuals had left their homes to collect firewood when the attack occurred.
Casualties and Survivors: While six victims lost their lives, three others—Bukar Alhaji (42), Wada Maina (50), and Adamu Idrissa—managed to escape by fleeing into nearby bushes. They have since safely reunited with their families.
Military Response and Victims
Troops from Operation Hadin Kai arrived at the scene and transported the injured to Gwoza General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed their deaths.
The deceased were identified as:
- Ibrahim Kursu (45)
- Malam Ahmadu (50)
- Abba Zake (35)
- Hawwala Zake (40)
- Bukar Umaru (38)
- Ishaku Naga (50)
All victims were residents of Pulka, Gwoza LGA.
