Nigeria’s Super Eagles B head coach Eric Chelle has announced a 35-man provisional squad in preparation for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The tournament, exclusively featuring players from domestic leagues, will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in August.

The provisional list includes captain Junior Nduka and midfield maestro Papa Daniel Mustapha, both considered pivotal to Nigeria’s campaign. Other notable inclusions are:

Goalkeepers

First-choice keeper Henry Ani (Enyimba) leads the goalkeeping department, supported by Kayode Bankole (Remo Stars), Nurudeen Badmus (Kwara United), Lawal Mustapha (Shooting Stars), and Ebenezer Harcourt (Sporting Lagos).

Defensive Lineup

The defensive roster features experienced campaigners including Waliu Ojetoye (Ikorodu City), Ifeanyi Onyebuchi (Rangers International), Kabiru Mohammed (Kwara United), and Uzondu Harrison (Ikorodu City). Midfield and Attack

Coach Chelle has selected a blend of creativity and firepower with midfielders Haddi Haruna (Remo Stars) and Saviour Isaac (Rangers International). The attacking contingent boasts in-form NPFL strikers Anas Yusuf (Nasarawa United), Sunday Megwo (Abia Warriors), Adamu Abubakar (Plateau United), and veteran Godwin Obaje (Rangers International).

Tournament Details and Group Stage

Nigeria, who finished as runners-up in the 2018 edition, find themselves in Group D alongside defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo. The Super Eagles will face Senegal and Sudan at Amman Stadium on Zanzibar Island before concluding their group stage against Congo at Dar es Salaam’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

According to Ademola Olajire, Director of Communications at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), all invited players are required to report to the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, by Monday. Players must present their international passports and valid club licenses upon arrival at camp.
