PCNGI Exposes Fraudulent Practices by Suspended Participant
The Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNGI) has strongly denounced what it describes as a coordinated smear campaign and attempted electronic blackmail by suspended participant Charles Goriola Yakub.
Yakub, operating through Independent Conversion Sector (ICS) and C & L Smart Energy Limited in Abuja’s Lokogoma district, had his participation in the CNG Conversion Incentive Programme suspended in December 2024 following serious misconduct allegations.
Unethical Practices Uncovered
Investigations revealed that C & L Smart Energy engaged in fraudulent activities, charging commercial operators between ₦200,000 and ₦1.2 million for CNG conversion kits that were meant to be free under the government program.
“We have documented evidence and video proof of these violations,” stated PCNGI officials. “Multiple victims also reported vehicle damage due to the company’s substandard installation work.”
Legal Action and Compliance Measures
The case has been referred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for thorough investigation. PCNGI has simultaneously strengthened its internal compliance protocols to safeguard the program’s integrity.
Kenechukwu Chukwu, Technical Assistant for Stakeholder Management, clarified: “This initiative exists to enable Nigeria’s clean energy transition, not to line pockets through fraudulent schemes. We won’t tolerate blackmail from disgruntled parties.”
