PDP Slams Tinubu’s Administration as ‘Bad Market,’ Vows to Oust APC in 2027
Opposition Party Accuses Ruling Government of Economic Mismanagement and Insecurity
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, labeling it as a “bad market” while declaring its intention to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, delivered the blistering assessment during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Monday. The opposition party’s remarks come amid growing economic challenges and security concerns across Nigeria.
PDP Positions Itself as Viable Alternative
Ologunagba revealed that the PDP is currently restructuring its internal systems to present Nigerians with what it describes as a “credible and dependable alternative” ahead of the next general elections. The party official painted a grim picture of Nigeria’s current state under APC leadership.
“This is a government that tells people to fast while they are feasting,” Ologunagba stated. “No patriotic or humane Nigerian, no political group or party that truly feels the pain of the people, will support President Tinubu in 2027. His presidency is bad market.”
Economic Hardship and Security Failures Highlighted
The PDP spokesperson accused the APC-led government of plunging the nation into worsening economic hardship, deepening insecurity, and creating an atmosphere of growing despair among citizens. He argued that infrastructure and public services were collapsing under the current administration’s watch.
Security concerns featured prominently in Ologunagba’s remarks, with specific reference to recent killings in Plateau State and an alleged assault on a PDP candidate from Anambra State in Abuja. These incidents, according to the PDP, demonstrate that insecurity has become “a new normal” in Nigeria.
Grassroots Support as PDP’s Strength
Despite high-profile defections from the party in recent years, Ologunagba emphasized that the PDP’s true strength lies in its grassroots support rather than political officeholders. He claimed that ordinary Nigerians continue to stand with the opposition party because it connects with their daily struggles.
“Our strength is in the people. Despite elite defections, our grassroots membership remains intact,” Ologunagba said. “People are not defecting because of the hunger and insecurity they face. They are standing by the PDP because we connect with their reality.”
APC Accused of Destabilizing Opposition
The PDP official further accused the ruling party of losing touch with ordinary Nigerians while allegedly working to destabilize opposition parties. These claims come as political tensions rise ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
As Nigeria grapples with economic challenges including inflation and currency devaluation, the PDP’s strong criticism signals an intensification of political opposition to the Tinubu administration. The party appears to be laying the groundwork for a robust challenge in the next national elections.
Political analysts suggest that the coming months will prove crucial as both major parties position themselves for what promises to be a highly contested electoral battle in 2027.
