Nollywood meets Hollywood at 2nd edition of AGN festival in Los Angeles – The Sun Nigeria

The Nigerian movie industry otherwise known as Nollywood, marked a significant milestone at the 2nd edition of the Actors Guild of Nigeria International Festival, “Nollywood Meets Hollywood,” held recently in Los Angeles.

The landmark meeting between AGN and SAG-AFTRA, was meant to foster collaboration between the two Guilds.

Discussions at the meeting, which had in attendance representatives of SAG-AFTRA, casting directors, top entertainment impressario and the Nigerian community in Hollywood, centered on casting opportunities, co-productions, capacity building, and global distribution.

The partnership promises cultural exchange, economic growth, and increased diversity.

At the gala night, Show Reels of Nollywood actors were displayed for Hollywood casting Agencies.

AGN President, Chief Emeka Rollas, described the meeting as “a major breakthrough for Nollywood,” eager to explore growth, cultural exchange, and mutual benefits.

“We’re eager to explore opportunities for growth, cultural exchange and mutual benefit, solidifying our industry’s position on the global stage,” Rollas said.

In his own part, SAG-AFTRA’s Chief Administrative Officer, Will Bensussen, pledged support, recognizing Nollywood’s acting talents.

“As the partnership unfolds, the world can expect exciting collaborations, fresh perspectives and captivating storytelling from the vibrant fusion of Nollywood and American cinema, Rollas added.

The gala nite was also attended by some Nollywood stars including Walta Anga, Lurchy Donald, the Aneke twins, Georgina Ibe, Ifeoma Okeke, Kemi Adekomi, Brown Eneh among others.

The festival is aimed at ensuring that the business opportunities in the film industry are uniquely accessed by all as we intend to improve a broader collaboration between filmmakers and actors to directly and indirectly benefit from global creative opportunities available within the space.
