Controversial Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has sparked outrage with a daring social media assertion.

The street singer thinks he is good enough to win the highly coveted Grammy award, and that every musician who collaborates with him will also receive one.

His comment follows the 67th Grammy Awards, which were held on Sunday, February 2, and saw Nigerian singer Tems make history by winning her second Grammy.

Tems’ hit song, ‘Love Me Jeje’ emerged victorious over ‘Tomorrow’ (Yemi Alade); ‘MMS’ (Asake & Wizkid); ‘Sensational’ (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay); and ‘Higher’ (Burna Boy).

‘Love Me Jeje,’ a sample of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 song of the same name, has gained critical acclaim from global music fans since its debut in April.

In a viral video, Portable bemoaned being neglected, claiming that if given the opportunity, he might win a Grammy.

He said: “Olamide picked me and I came out from nowhere, nobody rise me, God is my pioneer.”

“I’m telling you, if not that you neglected me, I would have won a Grammy. Feature me if you want to collect Grammy, drop verse for me, I get chorus. Ordinary woman collected the Grammy from you people.

“Failure is not an option for me. I don’t have backup, I am the backup. That’s why I am working hard. I believe in my phone and sub. Any disappointment is a blessing.”
