NAF Bolsters Healthcare with 90 New Medical Technicians
Graduates Join Force to Enhance National Healthcare Services
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has significantly strengthened its healthcare capacity with the addition of 90 newly trained medical technicians. These professionals recently graduated from the School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine in Kaduna, marking a major boost to the nation’s healthcare workforce.
Commitment to National Healthcare
Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, emphasized that these medical personnel will be deployed for critical national assignments. Their role extends beyond serving NAF personnel to providing quality medical services to the general public, demonstrating the force’s commitment to national healthcare improvement.
The graduation ceremony coincided with NAF’s announcement of a 345-bed joint-user accommodation facility currently under construction. This facility will serve both the NAF School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine (NAFSMSAM) and the Nigerian Air Force College of Nursing Sciences (NAFCONS), further enhancing healthcare training and services.
Graduate Composition and Training
The newly graduated cohort consists of:
- 43 graduates from the Sundry Medical A1 Upgrading Course 6/2025
- 47 graduates from the Basic Medical Course 3/2025
During the graduation ceremony, Air Marshal Abubakar reminded the graduates of their significant responsibility, quoting: “To whom much is given, much is expected.” He encouraged them to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills to overcome challenges in their professional duties.
Expanding Healthcare Infrastructure
The Chief of Air Staff highlighted NAF’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its Medical Services Branch, including:
- Establishment of 13 hospitals nationwide
- 41 well-equipped medical centers and clinics
- 2 renowned medical training institutions
“Through our expanding network of medical facilities, highly trained professionals, and continuous investment in healthcare infrastructure,” Abubakar stated, “we are not only enhancing the welfare of our personnel but also extending quality medical services to the wider public.”
Additional Infrastructure Developments
The ceremony also featured the inauguration of several new housing facilities in Kaduna:
- 10 one-bedroom military training center instructor’s quarters
- 30 one-bedroom quarters for married non-commissioned officers
- 12 one-bedroom single officers’ transit quarters
These developments underscore NAF’s commitment to improving both healthcare services and living conditions for its personnel.
