NNPP’s Kwankwaso Denies Recent Political Statements Attributed to Him

Presidential Candidate Clarifies Position on Political Alignments
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has strongly denied recent political statements circulating in his name.
In a statement posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, Kwankwaso declared: “My attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly stating my position on the recurring political realignments in Nigeria. Those statements are certainly not from me.”
Kwankwaso Denounces “False and Unfounded” Claims
The former Kano State governor emphasized: “I wish to categorically state that such statements are false, unfounded, and products of political mischief.”
Kwankwaso revealed he has deliberately taken a break from commenting on Nigeria’s political developments: “I have refrained from commenting on contemporary political events and I will continue to do so for the time being.”
Public Advised to Verify Official Sources
The NNPP leader urged Nigerians to only consider statements from his verified accounts: “In this regard, I urge the public to only engage statements that come from my public handles and other official sources.”
Recent reports had suggested Kwankwaso was considering political alignments to “rescue Nigeria from the shackles of misgovernance and poverty.” These reports fueled speculation about potential collaboration with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
