Three Commissioners Affected in Government Restructuring

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has implemented a strategic cabinet reshuffle affecting three commissioners, aiming to enhance service delivery across key ministries. The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa, following Monday’s State Executive Council meeting in Dutse.

Key Changes in Ministerial Assignments

The reshuffle includes significant portfolio changes:

  • Muhammed Alhassan moves from Land, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning to Water Resources
  • Ibrahim Garba Hannun Giwa transitions from Water Resources to Local Government and Community Development
  • Ahmed Garba (MK) shifts from Local Government and Community Development to Land, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning

Commissioner Musa emphasized that these changes are designed to “further enhance the government’s effectiveness” without specifying particular reasons for the reshuffle.

Implementation Timeline

The redeployments took immediate effect from Monday, May 5, with all affected commissioners expected to fully assume their new roles by May 19.

Council Adopts J-CARES Program Review

During the same meeting, the Executive Council received and approved the report from the White Paper Committee reviewing the Jigawa COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (J-CARES) program.

The committee, chaired by the state Head of Service, has been given four weeks to implement all recommendations and will provide progress reports at subsequent council meetings.

“The J-CARES Programme was established to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the state’s economy and citizens,” Musa explained. “This review aims to identify improvement areas and ensure effective implementation of its objectives.”
