Inside the House of Horror: Community Leader Testifies in Oyo Ritual Killing Case

Gruesome Details Emerge as Landlord Association Chairman Recounts Discovery

A chilling courtroom testimony has revealed disturbing details about a suspected ritual murder case in Oyo State, Nigeria, where five individuals stand accused of conspiracy, murder, and dismemberment of victims for sale.

The Fateful Discovery

Pastor Abraham Ajayi, chairman of Okegbemi Community Landlord’s Association, Zone C, became the third prosecution witness in the case against Adekunle Mohammed and four co-defendants. The commercial motorcyclist recounted to Justice Akinniyi Ladiran Akintola how community vigilance led to the shocking discovery.

“On August 7, 2024, we had a naming ceremony in our area,” Ajayi testified. “As I was heading home from Moniya, I encountered Mohammed on a motorcycle with a male child. Later that night, community members reported suspicious activities at Mohammed’s residence.”

The Investigation Unfolds

According to Ajayi’s testimony, concerned neighbors had noticed Mohammed frequently returning late at night with mysterious sacks. The situation escalated when residents reported foul odors and swarms of flies around the property.

“We decided to involve the authorities,” Ajayi stated. “After reporting to Amotekun and the police, officers discovered a concealed well on Mohammed’s property. When they flashed their torches inside, they immediately covered it and instructed us to proceed to the police station.”

House of Horrors Revealed

The following day brought even more gruesome discoveries. Police forced open Mohammed’s door to find:

  • Blood covering the floors
  • Overpowering foul odors
  • Plastic bottles filled with human blood
  • Various human body parts

“Mohammed admitted these were human remains he hadn’t yet sold due to lack of buyers,” Ajayi told the court. The defendant reportedly named several accomplices, including Afaa Bulala, Afaa Olobe, and Yakubu (alias Kuraisi).

The Well of Death

Fire service personnel later recovered three mutilated bodies from the well – all missing heads, arms, and legs. Officials noted other decomposed remains couldn’t be retrieved. The recovered bodies were transported to a mortuary as investigations continued.

Previous Testimony Corroborates Claims

The case builds on earlier testimony from Oladimeji Titilope, sister of victim Adekola Sodiq, who stated Mohammed confessed to killing her brother. This pattern of confessions and physical evidence paints a disturbing picture of alleged ritual killings in the community.

Legal Proceedings Continue

The court admitted Ajayi’s police statement as evidence (Exhibit P3) without objection from defense counsel. Justice Akintola adjourned the case until November 6 for further hearing.

This developing case has sent shockwaves through the Okegbemi community, raising questions about ritual killings and community safety in Nigeria. As the trial progresses, more revelations are expected about the scope of these alleged crimes.
