Details of the Abduction
The attack occurred around 12:15 am when gunmen stormed the priest’s residence and forcibly took him away. The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan confirmed the incident in an official statement released by Chancellor Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet.
The statement described the event as “profoundly sorrowful” and called for prayers for the priest’s safe return. It read in part: “We solicit your prayers for his quick and safe release. The Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of priests and religious and all the angels continue to intercede for us and bring him back to us safe and sound.”
Authorities Urge Calm
The diocese has appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid taking matters into their own hands while security agencies work to secure Fr. Amos’s release.
This incident adds to growing concerns about security in Nigeria’s northern regions, where kidnappings for ransom have become increasingly common.
