Fr. Ibrahim Amos Released Unharmed After Kidnapping

Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, the Catholic priest abducted on Thursday in Kurmin Risga, Kauru LGA of Kaduna State, has been freed. The clergyman, who serves at St. Gerald Quasi Parish, returned home safely on Friday afternoon around 2:00pm.

Church Confirms Release

The official announcement came through a statement by Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Shanet, who expressed profound gratitude to God for the priest’s safe return. He also thanked the public for their prayers and support during the ordeal.

Fr. Shanet specifically acknowledged the contributions of security agencies, stating: “We commend the efforts of the local vigilante group, the police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) for their role in securing Fr. Amos’s release.”

Ongoing Security Challenges

The incident highlights the persistent security challenges in Kaduna State, particularly in its southern regions. In recent years, the area has experienced numerous abductions, with clerics and rural residents frequently targeted by criminal elements.
