Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Iorshagher Akaagerger (Rtd), the former military administrator of Katsina State, has passed away at the age of 69. The retired military officer and politician died today, leaving behind a legacy of public service.
Distinguished Service Career
Akaagerger served as Katsina State’s military administrator from August 1998 to May 29, 1999, during Nigeria’s transition to civilian rule. Following his military career, he transitioned into politics, representing Benue North-East Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate from May 29, 2007, to May 2011.
Early Life and Education
Born in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, Akaagerger received his early education at Government Secondary School, Gboko (1969-1973). He later attended the prestigious Nigeria Defence Academy (1976-1977) and completed his military training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom (1977-1979).
A traditional title holder in his home state, Akaagerger remained active in community affairs throughout his retirement years.
