FinTechNGR Expands Flagship Event Beyond Lagos, Targets Multi-Sector Collaboration for 2025 Nigerian Fintech Week

The Fintech Association of Nigeria (FinTechNGR) has announced ambitious plans to transform its flagship Nigerian Fintech Week in 2025, expanding beyond Lagos for the first time and incorporating diverse economic sectors into the fintech conversation.

A Symphony of Digital Transformation

Scheduled under the theme ‘The Fintech Ecosystem Symphony: Orchestrating Nigeria’s Digital Future’, the 2025 edition aims to create a harmonious convergence of technology, business sectors, and regional perspectives to shape Nigeria’s digital economy.

“We want everyone to bring their instrument and be able to make harmony,” said Jameelah Sharrieff-Ayedun, vice president of FinTechNGR and chair of the 2025 Nigerian Fintech Week Planning Committee, during the announcement in Lagos. “Even the event environment will be designed to facilitate this type of cross-sector interaction.”

Regional Customization Meets National Vision

The innovative format will feature regionally tailored programming connected to a central national agenda:

Northern regions may focus on agro-fintech solutions
Southern zones could highlight entertainment-tech innovations
All regions will maintain digital connections to core national sessions

This approach marks a significant departure from previous Lagos-centric events, democratizing fintech engagement across Nigeria’s diverse economic landscape.

The PIE Agenda: Participation, Innovation, Expansion

Stanley Jacob, president of FinTechNGR, explained that the expanded vision aligns with the association’s strategic PIE Agenda framework:

“We are no longer just an association; we’re now a movement,” Jacob emphasized. “The 2025 Nigerian Fintech Week will welcome not just fintech professionals but voices from oil and gas, aviation, entertainment, and grassroots communities.”

The agenda promises to explore cutting-edge applications including:

AI in healthcare and agriculture
Digital payment solutions for informal markets
Cross-industry fintech integrations

Beyond Traditional Fintech Conversations

Seun Folorunsho, director of advocacy and programs at FinTechNGR, highlighted the event’s expanded scope: “We’re bringing in lifestyle sectors – entertainment, fashion, gaming – alongside practical fintech use cases. We want Gen Z participants to express themselves and help shape financial technology’s future.”

Recognizing Grassroots Financial Champions

A notable inclusion in the 2025 plans involves Nigeria’s extensive agent banking networks. Sharrieff-Ayedun emphasized their critical role: “These operators held Nigeria’s financial system together during COVID-19 lockdowns. Their community trust is invaluable, and they’ll be vital participants in our symphony.”

The association plans special programming to:

Highlight agent network contributions
Explore technology enhancements for last-mile financial services
Facilitate knowledge exchange between formal and informal sectors

With over 600 members and growing sector-specific communities of practice, FinTechNGR positions the 2025 event as a collaborative movement rather than a conventional conference.
