Governor Stands Firm Against Terrorism
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has strongly condemned the recent wave of attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across various communities in the state. The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending the 16-year insurgency that has plagued the region.

Unwavering Resolve Amid Challenges
“The recent surge in attacks will not deter our resolve to tackle the scourge of the 16-year-long insurgency,” Governor Zulum stated. “I urge the people of Borno to remain resilient and prayerful. This is a partial eclipse — and we shall overcome it, Insha Allah.”
The governor described the recent attacks as “deeply condemnable,” particularly mourning the loss of education staff, military personnel, and civilians. “These acts of terror are deeply condemnable. The recent tragic loss of our education staff, gallant troops, and innocent civilians is a painful reminder of the challenges we continue to face,” he said.
Recent Attacks Across Borno State
The terrorist attacks reportedly occurred in multiple locations including Marte, Chibok, Gwoza, Kala Balge, and along the Maiduguri-Damboa Road. Among the victims were two staff members of Damboa Local Education Authority who were killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) while traveling to Maiduguri for the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) examination.
Governor’s Sympathy and Commitment
Governor Zulum expressed heartfelt condolences to all affected families and reaffirmed the state’s partnership with federal security agencies. “I am more determined than ever to support the military, security agencies, and our volunteer forces in the fight to end terrorism and insurgency in our state,” he declared.
The governor highlighted his recent visit to Gwoza, where he met with military personnel and the Izge community, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security measures and community resilience.
