The host of Okpoama International Beach Carnival and the Opu- Nembe All Stars Concert, Ebitimi Ogoniba aka MC Senibo, has declared that Bayelsa would soon become the entertainment hub in Nigeria.
MC Senibo who has successfully brought A-list musicians such as Davido, Rema, Fireboy, Teni, Mr. P of Psquare, Rude Boy, Timaya, Flavour, Tuface Idibia, HarrySong, Timi Dakolo, Patoranking, and Duncan Mighty to perform at the twin musical events, in an interview said the Okpoama Beach Carnival and Opu- Nembe All Stars Concert has elevated Bayelsa’s profile as a hub for world-class entertainment and the new destination for fun seekers willing to enjoy music, dance, and all-around arts at its best.
While expressing gratitude to the former Governor of Bayelsa State and former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, and security expert, Chief Dr. Kojo Sam for the support received in hosting the International Okpoama Beach Carnival and Opu-Nembe all Stars Concert, he noted that entertainment is one of the easiest ways to bring people together because it unifies people and provides a platform to unwind.
‘’The Okpoama Beach Carnival has increased awareness of Okpoama’s beauty and tourism potential. People often think they need to travel to places like Miami for a great beach experience, but the Okpoama Beach Carnival is changing that narrative. It has encouraged discussions about investments in Okpoama and Opu-Nembe, especially with the peace and security people experienced during the events. The peace and security we showcased tell the world we are ready to take over the tourism and business sectors.
“Bayelsa is rich in culture, heritage, and untapped resources. I invite the world to come to Bayelsa. Believe in us, support us, and invest in us—you won’t regret it.”
Speaking on the challenges of getting musical artistes to Okpoama to performance, he recounted the experience of boarding speedboats which is strange to some of the musicians.
MC Senibo however commended the Federal Government and the Bayelsa state government for the construction of the Nembe/ Brass Road which upon completion would ease the transport logistics by speed boats.
‘’ We face logistical hurdles of bringing international stars to Brass Island. They must travel to Nembe and then take a boat to Brass. I sincerely thank the Federal Government for approving funds for the construction of the Nembe-Brass Road. I also commend the State Government for taking the bold initiative to embark on this monumental project. It will ease movement and attract greater development to the area,” he added.
MC Senibo implored the government to invest in infrastructure such as a film village to attract movie and music productions, which would boost revenue and development and also help to develop local talents.
