Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed sadness over the loss of his former aide and long-time political associate, Hon. Shima Ayati.

This is contained in a statement issued by Atiku Media Office in Abuja on Tuesday.

Ayati died after a brief illness in Makurdi, Benue State on Saturday, his family member, Ahangba Ayati disclosed.

Atiku paid tribute to the loyalty and commitment of the Benue State-born politician to his cause over the years.

“Though Ayati served as an aide while I was in office as Vice President, he never hesitated to make himself available whenever the need arises, and his loyalty was never in doubt,” the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said.

In expressing his condolences to the family of the deceased, friends, and the good people of Benue State, Atiku urged them to see Ayati’s demise as the will of God.

He, thereafter,  prayed for God to comfort the Ayati family and give his loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss of their father and husband and his political associate and friend.

“May the soul of Hon. Shima Ayati rest in perfect peace,” Atiku said.
