APC Chieftain Urges Tinubu to Target Financiers of Insecurity in Nigeria
Call for Action Against Sponsors of Violence
Osogbo, Nigeria – Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has called on President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to intensify efforts in identifying and arresting individuals and groups allegedly financing insecurity across Nigeria.
Condemnation of Recent Attacks
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye strongly condemned the recent brutal attacks in Benue and Plateau States, describing them as “heartbreaking and intolerable.” He emphasized that tackling insecurity requires more than just confronting armed groups—it demands cutting off their financial and logistical support.
Need to Disrupt Criminal Networks
Oyintiloye stressed that efforts to combat insecurity will remain ineffective if those supplying food, weapons, vehicles, and other resources to criminal groups are not apprehended. “Armed groups depend on external support,” he said. “Unless these lifelines are severed, dismantling their operations will be difficult.”
He urged security agencies to prioritize intelligence gathering, strengthen anti-corruption measures, and enhance international collaboration to track illicit financial flows. “To effectively combat insecurity, we must target those bankrolling criminal activities and insurgencies,” he added.
Call for Public Prosecutions
While acknowledging progress made by security operatives, Oyintiloye insisted that more must be done to expose and prosecute those behind the scenes. He also warned against individuals exploiting Nigeria’s security challenges for political gain, labeling them “enemies of national unity.”
Commending President Tinubu’s commitment to national security, Oyintiloye called for the public prosecution of arrested sponsors to restore public confidence and reinforce the rule of law.
