Anambra Central Declares Support for Soludo’s Second Term Bid

Governor Claims Opponents Are Merely Fundraising, Not Contesting

In a significant political development, stakeholders from Anambra Central Senatorial Zone have declared the 2025 gubernatorial election a foregone conclusion, asserting that incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo will secure an unchallenged victory for his second term.

Massive Show of Support at Ekwueme Square

The declaration came during a massive gathering at Awka’s Ekwueme Square, where community leaders, traditional rulers, business executives, and youth representatives from all seven local governments in the zone unanimously endorsed Soludo’s candidacy. The event marked a significant show of political strength for the sitting governor.

Dr. Eric Ifeanyi Okoye, chairman of the occasion, highlighted Soludo’s achievements in security and economic development: “Governor Soludo has transformed Anambra into a secure business hub. The evidence of progress is everywhere for all to see.”

Political Heavyweights Throw Weight Behind Incumbent

Former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka delivered a powerful endorsement, comparing Soludo’s governance to “sweet sleep you don’t want to wake from.” Chidoka emphasized: “Why change leadership when the current administration is delivering tangible results? The aroma of progress fills Anambra’s air.”

Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Soludo’s running mate, praised the governor as an “economic magician,” reinforcing the administration’s message of continuity.

Soludo Addresses Zoning Principle Concerns

Governor Soludo used the platform to address growing concerns about Anambra’s zoning arrangement: “Peter Obi began this rotation from Central, Obiano continued from North, and now it’s South’s turn. We must complete our eight-year tenure to maintain this equitable system.”

The governor warned against what he called “political opportunists” attempting to disrupt the zoning formula: “Beware of those promising four-year terms. Their real aim is to give the South 12 years, destroying our carefully balanced rotation.”

“They’re Fundraising, Not Campaigning” – Soludo’s Bold Claim

In perhaps his most controversial remarks, Soludo dismissed his opponents’ seriousness: “These aren’t real contestants – they’re fundraisers. They move around begging ministers and politicians for support under the guise of campaigning.”

The governor expressed confidence in his electoral prospects: “We’re targeting 90% of votes in Central Zone. The people have spoken clearly through today’s massive endorsement.”

Symbolic Move to New Government House

Soludo revealed he had officially moved into the newly constructed Government House, named “Anambra Light House,” calling it symbolic of the state’s transformation. “I slept there last night and simply strolled to this venue this morning. This is just the beginning – greater things await Anambra,” he promised.

The event concluded with traditional rulers from the zone conferring a chieftaincy title on Soludo, further cementing his cultural legitimacy ahead of the 2025 polls.
