Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has sarcastically commended President Bola Tinubu.
Obi believes Tinubu is fulfilling his campaign promises to Nigerians, including following in the footsteps of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, which has been criticized for lack of direction.
Tinubu promised to start from where his predecessor left off, and life has not been easy for citizens during the All Progressives Congress administration.
Obi was a guest on Arise TV on Tuesday when he said that the president has not failed in his promises to his people.
“He [Tinubu] is doing well because what he promised people is exactly what he is doing; that he would start and continue from where the previous government stopped,” Obi said.
“Someone who met the dollar at 300 to 400, and now it is 1,500, he has done fantastic.
“What is happening can be turned around with a competent leader who has the capacity and compassion to serve. I would make sure to address Nigerians at least once every month.”
Tinubu removed fuel subsidies in his first day in office and later floated the naira leading to economic shocks, including inflation, higher living costs, and currency devaluation.
