Gemade solicits prayers, support for Alia to deliver on promises

Former member of the National Assembly, Senator Barnabas Gemade, has called on Benue people to encourage and pray for the state Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia to enable him achieve his vision for the state especially in delivering dividends to the people.

Gemade made this call on Sunday at Full Gospel Revival Crusade Church, Tse Agberagba, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue state, during a Thanksgiving service in honour of Technical Adviser to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Mr Solomon Iorpev.

Iorpev was also conferred with a Chieftaincy title as Akinde U Mbavaa.

The former governorship aspirant, who was father of the day at the events, said the Governor has been selfless in providing purposeful leadership beyond imagination of the people and should be allowed to serve the state as Governor for two terms.

He assured Mr. Iorpev that he will continue to stand by him to serve the Governor effectively and encouraged him to remain resolute in his assignment.

The Permanent Secretary Government House Administration, Mr. Bartholomew Ageraga also advised the young people to respect elders and desist from insulting leaders on the social media space.

Earlier, during his sermon, Rev Ikyambe Achon, advised leaders to ask for the heart of discernment as Solomon did to enable them lead the people with the fear of God.

Achon, a Pastor in charge of stated this on Sunday during a Thanksgiving service in honour of Technical Adviser to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Mr Solomon Iorpev.

The clergy said the heart of wisdom would enable them apply wisdom in a manner that it will profit the people.

He encouraged the celebrant to be exemplary so as to be different in discharging his duties emphasizing that God protects those who seek His face against evil ploys and catapults when they were pulled down.

Rev Achon warned that those who seek to destroy others have sown a seed that they will reap if not during their time, their generation will sure reap.

He said it was only God that would elevate people to leadership positions without making outrageous demands saying it is only God that gives without demanding.

He said when children of God return to Him with thanksgiving when they are blessed, He perfects their blessings.

In his remark, Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media Publicity and Strategic Communication Mr Iorpev said the thanksgiving was to express his appreciation to God for His blessings on his family and to thank Him for his elevation by Governor Hyacinth Alia.

He expressed his commitment to do his job to the best of his abilities to enable the Governor succeed even as he noted that the Governor has given priority to the development of the state as evident in rapid progress made.

Mr Iorpev appealed to Benue people to support Governor Alia to have a good finish of the first tenure and to also vote him in for the second term to sustain the good works he has started.

Speaking, Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Benue State Council, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber described the honour as well deserved and urged the people of Konshisha to rally round their son to enable him succeed.
